For the first time we introduced a Peoples Dahlia Competition in association with The Lost Gardens of Heligan.
The competition was held on the Sunday of the bank holiday weekend and was open to anyone that does not grow dahlias for exhibition (or members of their family).
The competition was judged by Katie Kingett, Productive Garden Supervisor, who also presented the prizes and First Prize was awarded to Roger Tolliday – Roger receives his rosette, a years membership of the Cornish Dahlia Society and a number of Dahlia plants.
Second Prize was awarded to Mrs J Puckey who received a book on Dahlias kindly donated by The Lost Gardens of Heligan. Third prize was awarded to Neil Harrington who will receive some Dahlia plants in the new year.
The society thanks everyone that brought dahlia flowers on the day despite the terrible wet weather. The competition will be run again in 2019 on each day of the three day show.
If you grow dahlias (but not for exhibition and are not entering our show classes) why not have a go at our People’s Dahlia Competition?
