2025 AGM and Conference

by | 23 February 2025

Sunday 23 February 2025 we held our Annual General Meeting and Conference. Despite the gale force winds and torrential rain there were at one point around 90 people there which was great and we thank everyone for supporting us.

Thanks to the generosity of members who donated tubers for our tuber sale.  At one point there were around 30 people queuing to buy some locally grown tubers.

We kicked off the afternoon with the normal AGM business part, which we try to keep to 30 minutes, and then after a quick rearranging of the front of the room we introduced our speaker, John Lanyon.  As an ex-head gardener for various National Trust gardens he gave us an interesting talk about daffodils.  We are grateful to John for stepping in at the last minute due to our planned speaker being unable to make it.

After a nice cuppa and a couple of biscuits we drew the raffle and also gave everyone time to buy even more tubers !  We continued the afternoon with the continuation of our “Growing Dahlias” series.

Our own Cyril Watkins and Ian Clemens took us through the dahlia jobs for this time of year and discussed starting off the tubers, pot tubers and a few other topics.  As with everything dahlia related there are lots of different ways of doing everything and the interaction of the audience provided some interesting discussions.

We are continuing our “Growing Dahlias” series at our next event on Sunday 13 April, for more information click here.

Cyril and Ian leading the discussion.
It was great that dahlia dog friend “Harley” joined us again. So well behaved and took particular interest in the biscuits during the refreshment break !

Look forward to seeing you all at our next event.
