The dust has now settled back onto the floor of the Heligan barn, and we have time now to reflect on the last year and make plans for next year’s shows.
For me it has been an interesting year, after only visiting the Wadebridge show on a whim a couple of years ago l plucked up the courage to not only enter both the Wadebridge and Heligan shows the following year but join the Society as well, sadly the pandemic then arrived and shows dried up. However, the idea of entering grew and l used the time to read up on all aspects of growing dahlias and replace a few plants with a few from the tuber sale at our AGM.
When the first show after covid was announced I submitted my entry form and offered to help put a few tables and chairs out if needed, the response was a very definite yes . . . . a year on from that offer to help l have joined the committee, become involved with pushing our society on social media and volunteered to help out producing the newsletter with a commitment to becoming editor once l save up and get a computer! So, all in all an interesting and totally enjoyable 12 months, and looking forward to the future.
The aim is to keep members up to date as often as possible with everything going on in the Cornish Dahlia Society. l have a few ideas for content and l may well be contacting you for future editions. It goes without saying if there is anything you would either like to put in the newsletter or something you would like to see in the newsletter let me know.
