We are moving to Heligan

by | 5 April 2018

The Cornish Dahlia Society is delighted to announce that our Main Show is moving to the Lost Gardens of Heligan. The committee would like to extend their thanks to the team at Heligan for their help and support with the show. We thank the National Trust at Trelissick for hosting the show over the past few years and we are sorry that they have decided to change their focus and not host any more shows there.

The three day event held from Saturday 25 August 2018 to Monday 27 August 2018 will feature all the normal classes for exhibition dahlias and in addition there are classes suitable for those new to growing or showing dahlias. These include standard novice classes and also “a dahlia bloom in a picture frame” and “a vase of 7 blooms of dahlia”. We are also pleased to announce that on Sunday 26 August 2018 there will be a “Peoples Dahlia” competition.

Experts will be on hand during the show days to provide help and advice and we are planning a video display and also talks on growing dahlias.

In addition to the show itself the society are growing and supplying Heligan with over 1000 dahlia plants of various cultivars and colours for planting into the gardens to create an amazing dahlia display. Exhibitors will be provided with a free pass valid for Friday 25th and Saturday 26th for the purpose of staging. There will also be a special entrance marked for exhibitors to use to enable them to unload their dahlias. All paid up members of the society will be provided with a “one day” free pass to enable them to visit the show and enjoy the dahlias. This pass will be sent out shortly to members with the show schedule.

Don’t forget our mini show on Sunday 19 August 2018 at Trelawney Garden Centre, Wadebridge.

Happy Dahlia growing everyone – look forward to seeing you at one or both of the shows.
