Our 2017 Show Report

Here we are once again at the end of another show season and again what a season it was weather wise with all combinations of weather to contend with.

I am delighted that we have once again had two very successful shows with over 600 entries. It was great to see some growers with small numbers of plants and first time exhibitors having a go at showing dahlias. It was also good to talk with new members that are planning on growing and exhibiting next year.

The main three-day show held at Trelissick Gardens over the August Bank Holiday, at the invitation of The National Trust attracted a very good number of entries and also some first time exhibitors.

Unfortunately this was our last show to be held at Trelissick but don’t worry plans are already in the making for next years show at a new venue to be announced in the next newsletter once we have had time to finalise and agree the details.

Thanks to Pat Knight and Mike Bryant for setting up on the Friday and for being on duty all day Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Thank you also to Ian Odgers for judging the show and John Colling for stewarding. Thanks also to everyone else that either helped on show days and/or with the packing up on the Monday.
