Our 2022 Three Day Show Report

Our Three Day Show at the Lost Gardens of Heligan was also very supported, entries down a bit again but a great show which was visited by in excess of three thousand members of the public.

A huge thanks goes to those that transported all the vases and staging in the days leading up to the show and those that helped setup and also came to help dismantle on the Monday.  Thanks to the committee that helped run the show and to Lorraine Jasper for keeping us supplied with tea and other delicious refreshments.  Special thanks to Pat Knight our Show Secretary for the hours of work and dedication she puts in every year to help make the event such a success.

The show had over 270 entries from all over the South West and we thank every exhibitor for taking the time to travel to the show and congratulate everyone regardless of whether or not you won a Trophy or Prize Card.

The Trophy winners were as follows:

John Patrick – The ‘Karsalan’ Challenge Cup, Clarence Ellis Memorial Trophy, Trengilly Trophy for Open Miniature Decorative, Open Miniature Cactus Trophy, Cornish Seedling Trophy, NDS Silver Medal for best exhibit in show, Best Vase of Small Cactus in Show, Best Vase of Small Decorative in Show and Ray Adley Memorial Trophy for best vase in Show.

Neal Hatch – The Cornish Open Championship, The Cornish Miniature Championship Trophy, The Pompon Trophy, Open Ball Class for the Harold Wilkinson Memorial Trophy and Open Waterlily – Ivor Kitchener Trophy.

Cyril Watkins – Open Medium Cactus – Irene Batson Memorial Trophy, Open Small Cactus – Penhill Trophy and Best Vase of Small Semi-Cactus in Show.

Nathan Mitchel – NDS Bronze Medal for runner up best exhibit in show and Best Vase of Pompons in Show.

Simon Stidwell – Most Points in Section F (Open Single Bloom) and F&B Knight Memorial Trophy for Best Exhibit in Section F.

Mike Bryant – CDS Collerette Trophy and Bruallen Trophy (Open Bowl Class H1).

Ian Clemens – CDS Trophy for the Open Giant/Large Decorative.

Roy Knight – Best in Class C15 (Fimbriated).

Danny Glew – Trophy for Best Exhibit Section E – Intermediate Section.

Kevin Hargrave – Novice Trophy for most points in Section D (Novice).

Jackie Smith – Burden Trophy for best exhibit in Section D (Novice).

Prize Cards were won by Mike Bryant, Ian Clemens, Danny Glew, Kevin Hargrave, Neal Hatch, David Jasper, Lorraine Jasper, Roy Knight, Nathan Mitchell, John Patrick, Jackie Smith, Simon Stidwell, Jane Truscott, Pam Waker and Cyril Watkins.

Congratulations also go to all the entrants in our Peoples Dahlia Competition.  First prize went to Roger Young, second prize to Jean Eldred and third prize to Dawn Dickinson.
